  1. Looks like a great list, surprised to see Toy Story on there though. Should be fun!

  2. It's great to finally get to know the list, even if it comes down to three, there is going to be at least one that interests us!
If you guys are trying to watching them on netflix, they only have The Wind That Shakes the Barley to stream, but neither the less, there are other ways to find them (illegally...not suggesting, of course) but anyways hopefully Bradshaw approved Godfather as a choice, I'm guessing the Godfather is the number one movie! I'm looking forward to what Schiessl posts as the top three!

    1. Sorry for the delay. We have been on holiday break for the week.

Yes, these are the official selections for 2014 submissions. However, each educator will select three films from which the students will get to choose one on which to concentrate. I'm sure you noticed that our site chose three films already and have just concluded our oral assessments for film. Other schools may have other dates devoted to this assessment.

Thanks for the interest. Where are you posting from?

  7. You shouldn't be posting this online... my students got a hold of it and now I have to rearrange our entire schedule because they aren't allowed to see this list more than 4 weeks before the oral presentation!

  8. Frau Hatchner,

The films were announced by IB months ago and have been common knowledge. Your students do not know what three films YOUR students will get to choose from. You dictate that. I happened to select these three films for our assessments that took place in December. YOU have the opportinity to select any three films YOU want. There has not been any violation of IB policy.

I am certainly sorry if this caused an issue for your classes. However, any IB student could have found this information online at a number of IB Film specific sites.

    Tchuss.

  10. Thanks Lanny. Glad to be of help. Remember, this blog is really just for my classes. What I am having my students do, and when they are doing them is really for my classes exclusively.

However, I'm sure you and your colleagues can gain additional insight as to what the IB requirements are and possibilities as to how to go about being successful when completing the IB requisite assignments. I'm sure I have done some things differently than what is going on in your film class. Don't see this as a good/bad thing. IB has given us some freedom as to how to plan and deliver our coursework. That is generally a good thing, even if it does provide some confusion at times (as seen above).

    Cheers,
    Mr. Schiessl
